DMLA Tech Initiative Focuses on Strengthening Metadata for Video
Metadata for video is on the way
The Digital Media Licensing Association’s Technology Committee, as part of its 2020 Initiatives, is focused on metadata preservation for photography and video.
The head of the committee, Mark Milstein, CEO of Microstock Solutions, also sits on the IPTC Video Metadata Hub committee, helping the footage licensing industry bridge technical differences on both sides of the Atlantic. Strides have been made in creating metadata standards for still imagery, and footage stands to benefit next.
“Central to that committee’s role is the creation of a universal metadata standard for video,” Milstein said. “I will ensure that work links to DMLA’s initiative as a direct benefit to our footage members.”
There are beneficial IPTC video meta hub (VMH) documents available now to help video creators, archivists and licensors store and exchange metadata:
